Each of these pieces tells the story of individuals I have known, contemplated, or been. A melding of ancient symbols, transforming shapes, animal medicine, familiar mythology, and arcane, iconic images create talismanic representations of archetypes and subconscious identities. The personal became the universal as viewers connected emotionally to the first of these paintings, and I realized that the natural progression of this series would be intimate, highly collaborative and consultative commissioned works. These become part coat-of-arms, part portrait of one’s inner self; incorporating the subject’s own journey, emblems, loves, and driving forces.
